PAPER THOUGHTS

My brown paper journal started as a notebook for sermons and bible studies and has since become one of my most precious, treasured things. I ended up filling it with emotional rants, revelations, small words of wisdom, awful drawings & scribbles of doubt & insecurity. Looking back, I now see that it’s also filled with reminders of my growth on every page.

The things I struggled with at fifteen & seventeen are so different to what I struggle with today. Although I’m now twenty one and have overcome many of the things I wrote about, the truths in that journal are still as true as they were 4 years ago… And I thought maybe some of these truths & the stories behind them could encourage someone else as well.

JOURNAL QUESTIONS I LOVE…

  1. What’s on your mind at the moment? How is it making you feel?

  2. Are you bottling up any emotions right now? What are they?

  3. What’s the biggest misconception about yourself?

  4. When are you the hardest on yourself & why? Where does it stem from?

  5. What things do you value most in life? … Or in people?

I’m super grateful for Willem who filmed this entire video, wearing many hats with the handycam, sound, photography & main camera set up. Huge thanks to Levi for his amazing lighting & colour correcting. & big, big thank you to everyone who has encouraged this video & the journal entry blog that inspired it. Getting in front of the camera is terrifying to me & I didn’t at all plan on doing it for a while, if ever. So thank you xo
